Eating
Habits
way it's
eaten and served. In Europe, eating with your hands
is not
considered very polite, but in India, it's a tradition. In
fact,
when you eat with your hands, you enjoy your food more
because
it stimulates the senses. Indians believe that touching
your food
helps you feel the taste, texture and aroma. But
you must
only use your right hand because the left hand is
considered
unclean.
In the
south of India, it's a tradition to serve food on banana
leaves
instead of plates. Firstly, it's healthier because when
you put
hot food on a banana leaf, it releases nutrients that
are good
for you. Secondly, it tastes and smells better. Thirdly,
it's
environmentally friendly. But the best part is that there are
no plates
to wash at the end of the meal! Maybe we should all
try this
idea!
Eating
with the right hand — something
Indians
learn to do from a very young age.
